It’s an easy upgrade to a box cake mix. You can make this from a homemade cake as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate cake mix made per box instructions.

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 jar caramel ice cream topping, warmed

  • Whipped Cream (either a frozen tub or about a pint of fresh heavy cream whipped; use the amount you like)

  • 2 Butterfinger candy bars, crushed.

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Prepare a 13 by 9-inch baking dish.
  • Mix up the cake mix according to the package directions. Bake as directed.
  • Directly after the cake comes out of the oven, and while it is still hot, use a wooden spoon handle to poke lots of holes all over the cake.
  • Pour sweetened condensed milk all over the top of the cake with holes.
  • Pour caramel over the sweetened condensed milk, and let all the liquids soak down into the cake.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely. Refrigerate until cooled.
  • Mix up whipped cream, or use some frozen pre-whipped cream that has been thawed. Spread the cream over the cake like frosting.
  • Top the cake with the crushed candy bar.
  • Serve.

Notes

  • Keep in mind that this is a very rich and sweet cake.
